Faculty Development Cell, D.A.V College for Girls Yamunanagar, conducted a one day webinar on 17-7-2020 on “E-Content Development, Sharing and Online Classes Using Microsoft TEAMS”. The webinar was conducted under the supervision of Principal Dr. Abha Kheterpal, Dr. Surinder Kaur (FDP Cell Convenor & HOD, Commerce) and Dr. Rachna Soni (HOD, Computer Science and Applications). Mr. Osborne Terrence Dsouza and Mr. Bibhuti Bhushan Sinha from Juana Technologies Pvt Ltd. were the speakers who delivered the valuable lecture about the benefits and importance of e-platforms to reduce the communication barrier amid the uncertainty in this pandemic period. They introduced the most effective emerging digital technology software Microsoft TEAMS for Students/Teachers as well as the College/University. Both the speakers collaboratively demonstrated through the practical implementation that how an educator can take and manage their online classes/students and how the assignments can be given and grading for the students can be done for managing the learning system effectively. Also, they demonstrated how students would be able to access different features available in Microsoft TEAMS. They also took up various queries from the faculty members during the session. Towards the end of session Principal Dr. Abha Khetarpal gave vote of thanks to Mr. Dsouza & Mr. Sinha for enlightening nearly 130 faculty members who joined the webinar virtually.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell, DAV College for Girls Yamunanagar, conducted a webinar on “Swabhiman Bharat ka Paridrashya” on June 12, 2020. Dr. Meenakshi Saini from the department of Commerce and Dr. Rachna Soni from the department of Computer Sc. & App. were the conveners of the webinar organised under the leadership of Officiating principal of the college Dr. Abha Khetarpal. Dr. Rachna Soni, Co-ordinator IQAC welcomed the resource persons. Keynote Speaker, Dr. Sudha Yadav, (Member, National Commission for Backward Classes, National Secretary BJP, National Incharge OBC Morcha BJP, Ex-member parliament) emphasized on making India independent quoting the “Make in India policy” of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji. Resource Person Dr. Taruna Chaudhary Dhall(Principal, Institute of Teacher Training and Research, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra) laid stress on moral values and financial literacy in the lives of youth. Dr. Sushma Arya (Registrar, DAV University Jalandhar, Former Principal, DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar) Guest of Honour in the webinar put light on the importance of vocational and skill based education and suggested some changes. Dr Abha Khetarpal,the officiating Principal told about the different activities undertaken by the college to create awareness among the students. At the end Dr. Meenakshi Saini gave a vote of thanks.
Amid an extraordinary situation emerging out of the global pandemic and consequent lockdown, Internal Quality Assurance cell, D.A.V College for Girls, Yamunanagar in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science & Application, conducted a national level webinar on May 26, 2020, on “E-CONTENT DEVELOPMENT”. Resource person Mr. Tanvir Singh, (Training Manager IIT Bombay) elaborated the concept of MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses), its four important quadrants i.e. video tutorials, e-content, assessment/evaluation & discussion and told about Microsoft tools Wakelet and Flipgrid for generating e-content. Nearly 200 faculty members from various educational institutions joined the webinar. Dr. Rachna Soni, Head, Computer Sc. & App department said that in the current situation digital technology has reduced the barrier of communication and e-platforms like Google classroom, Hangouts etc has emerged as the most effective option. Officiating Principal Dr. Abha Khetarpal gave a vote of thanks to the resource person for sparing his valuable time and enlightening the participants.
Keeping in mind the new platforms of knowledge sharing in the present scenario, the Department of Computer Science & Applications, DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar ,conducted a webinar on Innovation & Intellectual Property Rights on May 20, 2020. Prof. (Dr.) Surya Narayan Panda, Professor and Director Research, Chitkara University, Punjab as a resource person explained the concept of “Innovation and Invention” through different real-life examples. He related innovation with the COVID 19 scenario and discussed the helpful role of innovation to fight the pandemic. Nearly 70 faculty members participated in the webinar. Principal Dr. Abha Kheterpal and Head of Department, Computer Science and Application, Dr. Rachna Soni emphasised that the role of e-platforms is emerging as the most effective option for both the teachers as well as the students.
The department of Psychology, DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar organised a webinar in the month of May, on “Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being for students in order to make them aware about the importance of mental fitness. The Resource Person Mrs. Sumedha Talwar, an architect by profession and senior International faculty with the Art of Living organisation, enlightened the students about the benefits of positive thinking, meditation and yoga in leading a happy life without any stress.
