Political Science is a social science discipline concerned with the study of the state, nation, government, and politics and politics of government. Aristotle defined it as the study of the state. It deals extensively with the theory and practice of politics, and teh analysis of political systems, political behaviour, and political culture. Political scientists “see themselves engaged in revealing the relationshiop underlying political events and conditions, and from these revelations they attempt to construct general principles about the way the world of politics works.” Political science intersects with other fields: including ecnomics, law, sociology, history, anthropology, public administration, public policy, national politics, internaitonal relation, comparative politics, psychology, political organization, and political theory. Although it was condified in the 19the century, when all the social sciences were established, political science has ancient roots; indeed, it originated almost 2500 years ago with the works of Plato and Aristotle.

Political Science is commonly divided into distinct sub-disciplines which together constitute the field:

  • Political Methodoglogy

The department of Political Science is undergraduate department and involved in teaching, research and extension activies.

The focus of the department is to prepare the students for their hight objectives and to make them responsible and productive citizens.Department provides the counselling and reading material to the aspirants of civil services and other elite services. The focus of the department is also to prepare the students for higher education in the top rank unuversities of India.
