The Department of Applied Yoga & Health was established in 2005, in collaboration with the department of Physical Education, Home Science, Psychology and Life Sciences. This inter-disciplinary course was sanctioned by UGC under the scheme Innovative programmes and now it is a self-financed course affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. The vision is to impart Health, Harmony and Happiness through Yoga. We also believe in serving society in terms of Physical Mental and Spiritual Health. The various courses offered by the department are:-
Yoga & Naturopathy at U.G. level
M.A. Yoga (2 year degree course) Morning and Evening co-educational
P.G.Diploma in Yoga Therapy (1 year course Morning and Evening co-educational).
Certificate Course in Yoga & Naturopathy (6 months & 3months)
Yoga & Naturopathy (Add-On Course)
Panchkarma( short term certificate courses).
Highlights of the Department
- College is recognized by department of Ayush to run SWAMI VIVEKANAND DISTRICT YOGA WELLNESS CENTRE from 2013 to 2015.
- Department has well equipped Naturopathy Lab/Treatment Centre with Steam Bath Chamber, Sauna Bath Chamber, Hip Bath Tub, Vibrator, Spinal Bath, Jacuzzi, Hand & Foot Bath Tub, Massager, Massage Chair, Sun Bath, Mud Therapy & Kunjal Therapy.
- Department has well ventilated Yoga Hall equipped with Home Theatre having a capacity of 25-30 persons at one time.
- Department also has ultra Modern Gymnasium equipped with all latest machines such as Treadmill, Twister, Stepper, Aromatic, Horse Rider, Leg presser, Butter Fly, Cycle, Sky flyer etc.
- Panchkarma therapies- Shirodhara, Nasya, Vasti etc. are also available.
- Special arrangements for Aerobics.
- An effective and dedicated team of 10 faculty members to guide the students.
- Department offers yoga & naturopathy treatment (morning and evening session) for outsiders.
- Department organizes monthly two to three free yoga camps in schools, colleges and parks.
- Department also offers free community services for prisoners’ in district jail/ police personals/teachers/senior citizens/housewives etc.
- Department also encourage students to actively participate in national seminars on yoga organized by different universities/ colleges to enrich their knowledge.
- Department also organizes extension lectures from time to time to acquaint students with applied side of the subject too.
Career Opportunities:
- Students after completion of post graduate degree can go for Ph.D
- They can go for jobs in Five Stars Hotels, Health Resorts, Spa Centers and they can become Yoga Therapist and Yoga Specialist,
- Students can apply for Lecturership in any university and college.
- Students can apply for the job of Yog therapists in districts hospitals.
- UGC-Net exam also started from 2015.
- Students can go abroad through ICCR.
