Physics

“Do you wish to know how and why the things are working around you?Are you excited about the Natural Phenomena of daily experience –Gravity,Light,Stars, Storms, Earthquakes and modern devices like Computers, Lasers, Rockets etc”.If so,then Physics is for you.

Department of Physics was established in year 1985-1986. Physics makes a student a keen observer. It develops ability for critical analysis and a skill in deriving logical conclusions thereby. At the same time it boosts their innovative capacity to apply Basic Principles of Science to different situations around. Keeping in view these facts, the richness of educational opportunities offered at the Department is based upon distinguished innovative teaching.

Highlights of the Department

  • The Department has been recognized by U.G.C as Department with Potential for Excellence w.e.f. the session 2010-11.
  • A highly qualified faculty of 16 members to ensure that best education is provided to more than 1000 students.
  • The department lays stress upon most modern methods of teaching i.e. applying the latest technological tools like Power Point Presentation based teaching in theory classes.
  • Innovative use of LCD in Practical Classes has been implemented through Video Shoots of Experimental Setups in order to make demonstration of experiments more effective and interesting.
  • Department actively engage students in learning and encourage them to actively participate in quiz, exhibition, debate, essay writing etc.and connect them to opportunities in education and various fields.

WHY THIS SUBJECT

. Physics is fundamental and foremost to all basic and natural sciences. Physics has reputation of being a difficult subject, but like many challenging things in life lead to many satisfying rewards, a degree in Physics leaves one poised to enter many professions that include, but are not limited to, traditional Physics only.

  • Ample Scope of employment in Defense Services after graduation.
  • Satellite and Space Missions at NASA and ISRO etc.
  • Computer and Electronic Industry.
  • Hospitals, Agriculture and Energy Conservation Programmes.

Besides this, the  students have ample traditional job opportunities like:-

  • Teaching jobs in Schools, Colleges/Institutes and Universities after B.Ed., M.Sc., Ph.D etc.
  • Research Scientist in prestigious Institutes like BAARC, DRDO etc. after post graduation in the Subject.

In nutshell, Physicists are virtually never unemployed because of their broad basic scientific knowledge, training and adaptability.
