Chemistry

Department of Chemistry was established in 1985.

Chemistry is the study of matter and its interactions with other matter and energy. Chemistry is important because everything you do is chemistry. Even your body is made up of chemicals. Chemical reactions occur when you breathe, eat or just sit. It is central science as it connects physics, biology, geology and environmental science. The demand and contribution of chemistry for the development of world can be understood by the fact that UNESCO in collaboration with IUPAC celebrated 2011 as “International Year of Chemistry”.

Strengths of the Department

  • UGC RECOGNISED DEPARTMENT WITH POTENTIAL FOR EXCELLENCE in 2013-14.
  • Viewing the growing demands of our students and developing technology led us to establish four spacious labs, instrument room, balance room, faculty room, LPG store, smart class room with LCD projector.
  • Since the past 33 years the department of chemistry has been attaining newer heights because of the unending efforts of the members of the faculty of the department of the chemistry.
  • Our students proved their mettle at various examinations by getting distinctions in the chemistry and still following this path of excellence.
  • To generate interest of the students in chemistry and enriching their knowledge by more interactive ways our department organizes various quiz contests, group discussions, poster making, caption contest, participation in science exhibitions and essay writing competitions from time to time.
  • Realizing the applied aspects and rapidly increasing demand of professionals in chemistry our faculty members updated their knowledge by improving their qualifications and also communicated various research papers in well accredited journals and made a mark in the field of research.
